ABRUZZO

Abruzzo is one of the imaginary boundery between northern and southern Italy, which was until 1963 connected with another Italian region called Molise. It not offers only breathtaking mountain range (massive Gran Sasso with its heigh 2912 metres and highest peak of Apenine), but also virgin nature (National park Abruzzo), mountain village, historical towns, medieval castles, lakes, spa and also wide sandy beaches with renowned resorts. Thanks to the centuries of unbridled nature, this region is influenced by many superstitions and magic, and many important personalities were born here (Alan Ladd, dante Gabriel Rosssetti) as well as the family of Madonna. The destination´s food specialities are lamb’s preparation, pecorino cheese and especially local fine wine – Montepulciano d’Abruzzo (strong red) and Trebbiano d’Abruzzo (a typical white wine). The region is also a popular place for cycling.
